The Supply Chain Specialist is a key member of the Michels Canada Corporate Services team and plays an integral support role contracting and procurement process for pipeline, pipe services, power, trenchless crossings and tunnel construction. This position must be able to manage multiple projects at one time while working within tight deadlines. Flexibility and attention to detail are critical for success as are excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Establish subcontracting strategies in collaboration with project teams.
Draft subcontracts and conduct subcontractor prequalification’s with input from the project team. Manage subcontract from implementation to close out in accordance with established processes. Contribute to subcontractor competitive bid processes.
Provide input in the client RFP process by contributing to commercial reviews and participating in legal /risk reviews.
Work with project teams to ensure effective administration of client contracts, including overall understanding of agreement, change management, notices, management and retention of documentation, invoicing, warranty, insurance, bonding, holdbacks, close out, etc.
Participate in post-bid clarification & negotiation process ensuring all relevant data is tracked and filed in accordance with established procedures.
Work with bid teams during client bid process to establish materials pricing and solicit competitive vendor “for bid” proposals as required.
Collaborate with project teams on understanding requirements and establishing procurement strategies
With input from the project team, analyses and prepares purchasing contracts. Conducts formal competitive RFQ processes for purchases of major materials.
Establish and maintains preferred vendor agreements for repetitive purchases (such as small tools and consumables).
Negotiates terms with suppliers (price, quality, deadlines, legal and commercial terms).
Collaborates with Insurance/Risk on insurance and risk reviews.
Undertake assigned projects relating to the Supply Chain function.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary diploma in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related discipline. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
3-5 years of related experience with proposals and the RFP process.
Demonstrates strong communication abilities, through written language and interpersonal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
Ability to work effectivey with tight deadlines and short timeframes
Experience in the construction industry, preferably in energy, pipeline construction, or HDD is an asset
Graphic design and marketing experience is an asset
