Position Overview: The Junior Accountant will have the ability to take ownership of problems, determine a solution and see through to completion with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Apply cheques, credit cards and EFTs to customers’ accounts.
• Investigate payment discrepancies by following up with MSS clients.
• Maintain over 90-day log with detailed notes regarding collection calls/emails – with back up where required.
• Respond to customer requests, provide statements, invoice copies, and reconciles balances.
• Match A/P invoices with receiving documents and enter A/P invoices into MSS’ accounting system.
• Review AP aging report and prepare report of invoices due for payment. Prepare weekly cheque run.
• Monthly credit card reconciliation
• Assist with Month End closing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

• Demonstrated Ability to handle large volume of work maintaining a high level of accuracy and to meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to work as a flexible team member in a fast-paced demanding environment.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel /Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Education & Experience

• Highschool Diploma
• Post-secondary education in Business, Finance or Accounting would be considered an asset
• 1 Year Experience in an Office Setting
• Preferred: 1 Year experience in A/R or A/P
