Mogo is looking for a passionate and dedicated software developer with a keen interest in production infrastructure to join our growing team. The ideal candidate for this position knows how to best support other developers and product owners to deliver world class financial products.

What you’ll do:

• Both building and running highly available infrastructure which supports our rapidly growing products.

• Be an active member of our engineering teams in supporting the successful delivery of new services, including establishing production requirements, creating build pipelines and implementing the aforementioned efforts in code.

• Coach, guide and mentor other developers from many teams on best practices for running their applications in production.

• Participate in on-call rotations to support delivery of our services which are available to customers 24/7 and year ‘round.

You will have:

• The ability to write production-ready code in a modern language such as Ruby, Go and Python while also knowing your way around the Linux shell.

• Helped others including developers and product owners understand the lifecycle of distributed systems including failure modes, edge cases in a cloud environment and antifragile concepts

• Have scaled containers from your laptop all the way to production with something like Mesos or Kubernetes.

• Used Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery to automate and accelerate the development process.

• Been obsessed about customers and owned incident response from the pager going off through to the post mortem.

• Worked with Amazon Web Services’ stack of services in a production environment.

Nice to have technical skills:

• Experience building applications in Ruby on Rails or Go.

• Scaled out database clusters using various techniques including replica sets and sharding

• Supporting highly evented applications with RabbitMQ, Kafka or Redis

• Automating cloud environments to be highly available in multiple regions using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Packer.

• Developing tools such as chatbots, distributed tracing or deployment helpers

• Spent time developing actionable service levels and tracking these with tools such as DataDog, New Relic, ELK Stack or Honeycomb.
