Reporting to the CFO, the controller is directly responsible for all aspects of corporate accounting, treasury management, regulatory and financial reporting as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles, month/year-end processes and a deep knowledge of financial statements. The controller is expected to provide high-level insights for decision-making at the executive level by leveraging new and existing systems, automation tools and technology.
The candidate is self-motivated, demonstrates strong organizational skills, and is detail oriented with a natural talent for managing and motivating teams.
Job Responsibilities
· Oversees day-to-day accounting operations and supervises team members responsible for billing & collections, A/P and payroll.
· Prepares and publishes timely monthly financial statements, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures.
· Coordinates and guides efforts to investigate, dispute and resolve short payments and remittance deductions.
· Manages daily cash and prepares monthly cash-flow projections based on financial forecast.
· Directs all month end procedures.
· Completes and ensures the Company complies with all government, tax and regulatory filings and reporting requirements.
· Manages year-end close process and file preparation for external accountants.
· Maintains and strengthens internal controls.
· Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies.
· Works closely with IT on all innovation projects aimed at automating manual, redundant and
non value added accounting activities.
· Aligns all accounting procedures and establishes best practices to maximize the potential and successful integration of the new Epicor ERP system.
Qualifications
· Proven working experience as an assistant controller or managing various accounting functions.
· 5-7 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
· Advanced degree in Accounting, CPA designation preferred.
· Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
· Experience with creating financial statements.
· Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
· Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
· Mindset to take full advantage of technology so the department operates at an optimized efficiency.
· Advanced knowledge of Excel and overall database management.
· Experience with ERP systems as well as ERP implementations a plus.
· Strong leadership, organizational and analytical skills – ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
