Your Moneris Career – The Opportunity

The Business Data Analyst translates business requirements into technical specifications and also does business data analysis to ensure implementation of appropriate and practical technical solutions that satisfy our needs. You will work closely with the business and project managers to assess business needs, software development teams to gain insight on the data and data engineers and architects to ensure they understand the designed solution.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a Hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship : You will report to Director, Data Science and Development.

Your Moneris Career – What you’ll do

• Review project related business requirement documents to assess needs, perform impact analysis on existing processes, and design effective solutions to business problem.

• Develop queries to be used for data analysis and generation of sample data extracts.

• Acts as the liaison between the business and technology teams to elicit detailed requirements and gain better understanding of the business needs as well as relaying the technical confines back to the business.

• Collaborate with Data and business teams to enable translation of requirements into audience appropriate documents ranging from design/functional specifications, technical specifications for developers to build the solution, data mapping/definitions documents.

• Engage knowledge experts and business teams to enable translation of requirements into audience appropriate documents ranging from business design/functional specifications, technical specifications for developers to build the solution, data mapping/definitions documents.

• Provide data mapping, document logic and criteria, perform gap analysis and comparison of existing and new data sets.

• Contribute to project management activities such as: scoping and estimating project efforts, identifying risks and recommending mitigation measures, communicating activity status, as well as escalating and communicating possible issues.

• Participate in quality assurance activities; develop test cases/scenarios, coordinate with appropriate groups to ensure test data readiness, develop high-level testing plan based on documented requirements, validate the output against the business requirements and identify defects.

• Work closely with Data teams to determine overall data needs in order to design reusable data solutions.

Your Moneris Career – What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree required in Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience in a Technology or business environment.

• Minimum of 4 – 5 years of experience in Data Analysis or Data Business Analysis

• Solid MS-SQL experience, along with SSRS, SSIS, Stored Procedures

• Power BI, Tableau, experience in Snowflake Tool

• Worked in Cloud Environment (Azure is considered an asset)

• Git, Active Batch

• Exposure to Python, Py Spark

• Proficient in programming languages specific to environments and coding experience.

• Excellent ability to design and engineer solutions.

• Knowledge of data management, governance, data design and database architecture. Can access and understand data within a variety of databases and file structures.

• Knowledge of business analytics and performance management principles including KPI and KRI management is considered an asset.

• Proficient in leading projects or project steps and communicating progress/approach with technical and non-technical peers/clients.
