Morningstar Looking for System Operations Engineer at Toronto, ON Full Time

Key mandates

• Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure for the organization to be in line with company guidelines or SOP (standard operating procedure).
• Installs, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Implements and runs support activities.
• Evaluates the existing systems and provides the technical direction to management.
• Collaborating with business users to understand their BI & data challenges and being able to solve those challenges by leveraging business systems and technology
• Train & enable users on self-service BI fundamentals
• Serve as a technical expert providing input to application design regarding environment, tuning, and administration requirements
• Participate in Proof of Concept or Proof of Technology projects to evaluate BI technologies and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Tableau Online and it’s supporting ecosystem
• Create and manage the site’s users and groups, create projects to organize content on the site, and assign permissions to allow users (groups) to access the content. Promote and certify content and measure the use of analytics within site.
• Plan and implement system automation as required for better efficiency.
• Develop comprehensive frameworks for business intelligence reporting utilizing data infrastructure, tools and internal & external data sources
• Adopt, implement and effectively evolve report automation standards
• Ensure the creation and ongoing maintenance of documentation for key BI & Reporting operational processes and deliverables
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, and implement process improvements
• Stay knowledgeable on emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts to the credit rating industry.

Experience

• Previous experience supporting a Tableau Online / Server environment
• Networking, hardware tuning and maintenance, security and access, and managing users and directory services.
• Good cloud experience from an administrative perspective (AWS, Azure)
• SQL, RedShift Cloud Datawarehouse experience

Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:

• Data extraction, transformation and load
• Other BI tool sets such as Datameer, Alteryx
• R, Phyton

Qualifications

• Bachelors and/or Master Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
• 3 to 5 years of IT and business/industry work experience
• Tableau Administration certification is a plus
• ITIL certifications are a plus
• Proven ability to interact across all levels of organization
