Motor Vehicle Personnel Looking for Dispatcher at Ottawa, ON Full Time

NonStop Logistics Inc is a premiere provider of transportation services in both Ontario and Quebec, and we are currently seeking a Full-Time Dispatcher at our operation located in Ottawa.

This Full-Time logistics position is responsible for coordinating and managing the daily pickup and delivery of ground-transported cargo. The dispatcher works under direction of the Dispatch Supervisor. The dispatcher will manage the over the road operations in the most efficient manner, fulfil administrative duties, monitor driver progress on routes, manage driver concerns, all while answering phones and carrying out any other assigned tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planning, optimizing, scheduling, and routing unionized drivers for pick-ups and deliveries to customers and vendors.
• Respond to customer inquiries and/or concerns and liaise with both internal and external clients/vendors to ensure that all assigned work activity is carried out in an efficient and procedural compliant manner.
• Monitor drivers’ hours of service, availability of equipment as well as fleet movement and operations.
• Respond knowledgeably, courteously, and promptly to incoming calls/ inquiries
• Support organization’s strategy for continuous improvement by providing data and recommendations on operational alternatives and creating efficiencies.
• Drive cost savings through optimal freight management

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY SPECIFICALLY RELATED TO QUALITY

• Update and manage various reports used by management
• Ensure that all assigned work activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner
• Monitor service levels to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded
• Effectively plan and prioritize all loads making best use of equipment and drivers while meeting service requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Management of on road and yard operations/supervise driver activity

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience in a dispatch role is an asset
• Experience in transportation and logistics an asset
• Proficient in Excel and MS-Office applications
• Strong interpersonal skills: client focused
• Post-secondary Diploma in Supply Chain, Business Administration or equivalent is an asset

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret business documents.
• Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, and drivers.
• Ability to read, analyse and interpret reports and able to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must be fluent in English and French (Ottawa & Quebec Operations only)

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbal
• Ability to read, analyse and interpret reports
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word

REASONING ABILITY
