Working within the Stryten Canada Industrial Battery Division, the Field Service Technician is responsible for the repair and preventative maintenance of batteries and chargers in a timely and efficient manner. Working at the customer’s site, typically a warehouse, you will diagnose and repair forklift batteries to enable customers’ success. This is a hands-on job troubleshooting batteries – don’t have forklift experience, we will train!

Responsibilities

Customer and On-Site Interaction:

  • Conduct repairs, preventative maintenance, and audit work according to company policies and procedures

  • Represent Stryten Canada in a neat and professional manner in accordance with Stryten Canada standards

  • Convey all information to the proper contact at the customer’s location to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Practice safety and good housekeeping at customer site, in shop and in all circumstances when representing Stryten Canada

  • Actively promote point-of-sale items and allied products and services

  • Prepare core/scrap batteries at customer site for shipment as necessary

  • Recognize and recommend safety and OSHA/EPA issues

Paperwork:

  • Ensure work order, Warranty/PIR forms, and inventory control forms are filled out properly and submitted in a timely manner (within 24 hours)

  • Complete time sheets and call logs on a daily basis and submit weekly

  • Work closely with the Director and Service Coordinators to arrange service schedule, to convey issues, and submit all paperwork

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Handle customer issues and ensure timely and effective resolutions

  • Escalate issues as needed to appropriate manager(s)

  • Proper use of company funds and assets in the execution of the job

  • Help out where needed (Shop) or as directed by Management

  • Work closely with and assist other Stryten Canada Technicians and Stryten Canada Sales staff

  • Participate in customer and internal meetings and training as needed

  • Occasional Overnight travel may be required

  • Additional responsibilities as required

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent

  • Possess Commercial Drivers License with clean drivers abstract

  • Ability to regularly lift a minimum 50 lbs. and use lifting equipment for up to 150 lbs. on a regular basis

  • Excellent working knowledge of the MS Office Software, especially Outlook/E-mail, and Excel

  • Acquire through training, an in depth knowledge of batteries and chargers to be able to diagnose maintain, and repair batteries and chargers

  • Ability to operate forklift truck, reach truck, and walkie pallet truck on a regular basis

  • Operate company vehicles in a safe, courteous manner, in all traffic

  • Keep the service vehicle in good working order and stocked correctly, maintained to manufacturer’s specifications

  • Be familiar with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), take company provides course, and maintain certificate
