Senior Systems Analyst
Term: 12 Months + Ext
Location – Hybrid (Ottawa)
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop business gaps and technical specifications for features and functions that exist outside of the new SIS.
- Work closely with the Enterprise Architect as well as other Solution Architects and Integration Specialists to ensure the approach to integration is aligned with the principles, practices, and technologies in the overall enterprise architecture..
- Develop and maintain documentation, including business/systems processes, data requirements, as well as functional and technical specifications related to the SIS.
- Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop and assist in the implementation of solutions.
- Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop future state process maps.
- Document and effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
- Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements.
- Leverage existing AC technology investments where possible and make recommendations when appropriate tools are not available.
RESPONSIBILITY AND DECISION-MAKING PROCESS
The Senior Systems Analyst will report directly to the Manager, SIS Implementation and Digital Transformation; as such, the Manager, SIS Implementation and Digital Transformation is accountable for the decision-making process.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3-year diploma / degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance, or Information Systems.
- Certification: Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) from IIBA or PMI-PBA (PMI Professional in Business Analysis)
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as a Systems Analyst.
- Experience in business/systems analysis and design of large/complex enterprise (ERP) systems with proficiency in data analysis, data flow diagrams, integrations, and APIs.
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities with exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Significant, recent experience with ERP systems, cloud solutions, and transformative projects.
- Experience with one or more current industry standard back-office processes (i.e., infrastructure and networking) and process mapping.
- Experience analyzing IT automation solutions combined with business process improvement initiatives.
- Hands-on experience developing process flow charts/diagrams and documents as well as knowledge of data and process modelling; Experience in future state process modelling.
- Experience in testing business processes and systems.
- Experience in change management.
- Experience training end users.
- Excellent communicator, both orally and in writing and ability to describe problems to others, to listen and to manage and influence stakeholders.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Agile tools such as JIRA and Azure Boards is an asset.
- Experience and/or familiarity with Salesforce, Workday, Thesis, Brightspace and other higher education systems is an asset.
