Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Coordinator

NEC Native Education College is a large private Indigenous college in Vancouver and works with First
Nations and Indigenous organizations to deliver programs in locations throughout British Columbia.

based education and the best practices of adult education. NEC is seeking a Coordinator for our HCA
program.
Position Summary:
The person will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of the HCA Certificate program in
our outreach and home sites under the direction of the HCA Program Manager. The HCA program
is based on provincial curriculum, incorporates an Indigenous wellness model, and prepares
individuals to work as front-line health care providers. For more HCA information, see

Main Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Program Manager the Coordinator will assist with program registry
compliance and delivery of the HCA program. Tasks include ensuring equipment and resources are
in place for program start, review and develop curriculum as necessary, teach one or more courses
for onsite HCAP-P, write reports, supervise instructors in the program, support the work of the
Program Manager, and support student success. The coordinator will manage multiple participant
intakes and arrange practicum placements under the HCAP-P program.
Qualifications:
Current full registration or non-practising registration with the BCCNM
Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (completion of PIDP or equivalent education or
previous teaching experience with satisfactory references or positive performance evaluations
and student course evaluations); and
Two or more years of full-tine Canadian nursing experience (2800hrs) with relevant knowledge
of the Canadian healthcare system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members
and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings.
Experience setting up and monitoring health care training
Verbal, written and computer communication skills.

Appointment to this full-time Regular position will require a formal criminal record check, the details

Salary: $40.00/ hr
