The main responsibilities include ensuring the quality of the curriculum and that the content being delivered in and outside of the classroom, including university life skills, meets the academic rigour required to progress to UTP Stage II. The instructor will work closely with Associate Director, Student and Academic Success to coordinate with Laurier resources (library, interfaith, security), to ensure the program is meeting the needs of students. Detailed knowledge of WLIC College support programs and philosophy and student life cycle is required.

Course Overview
WIS100: World Issues – World Issues is an ideal course for all students interested in the social, economic, political, and environmental issues that face our world. Topics studied may include global economy, the environment, and human rights, and will be addressed through reflective papers, projects, and presentations.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, & Experience
Master’s degree, PhD Candidate, or PhD in relevant field
Professional experience in a relevant discipline area
Demonstrated ability and experience in delivery of classes within a post-secondary teaching environment
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and meet agreed outcomes
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in the English language
Empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students
Desirable Skills & Experience
Degree or certificate in the professional practice of teaching and learning
Exposure to the academic needs and requirements of international students
Experience in a multicultural environment and strong intercultural competencies
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this role include but not limited preparing and presenting lessons (4 contact hours per week), tutorials, & workshops in an English-only format on academic and life skills, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students, constructing and marking appropriate assessment instruments, offering positive feedback, as well as areas for improvement when grading assignments, and recommending a final grade for the course. Courses may be delivered in-person, online, or in a hybrid format.
