Overview
ICM offers a pathway to an undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba. We are seeking applications for instructors to teach the first-year university-level course of KPER1400 – Concepts of Recreation and Leisure.
Course Description: The nature and scope of recreation and leisure, the past influences and implications for the future. An overview of the types and roles of various components of the leisure service delivery system.
Responsibilities
Preparing instructional and testing materials relevant to the course being taught.
Liaising with UM Course Coordinator to ensure adherence to course moderation processes.
Instructing/teaching/testing.
Marking/grading of exams and assignments etc.
Providing constructive feedback to students.
Maintaining regular office hours.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, & Experience
Master’s degree, Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in the English language is required.
Background/specialization in subject area required.
Demonstrated ability and experience in delivery of classes within a post-secondary teaching environment.
Empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students is required.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and meet agreed outcomes.
Previous teaching in the subject area or related area would be an asset.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Degree or certificate in the professional practice of teaching and learning
Exposure to the academic needs and requirements of international students
Experience in a multicultural environment
