JOB OPPORTUNITY: OUTREACH & EDUCATION COORDINATOR
The Near North Palliative Care Network (NNPCN) is seeking an Outreach & Education Coordinator in North Bay, Ontario. If you possess proven interpersonal, organizing and computer skills, together with qualifications, motivation and project management capabilities, this opportunity may be of interest to you. The Outreach & Education Coordinator will be required to help NNPCN restart and expand in-person pre-pandemic education and training sessions in a hybrid format (in-person and online trainees). These include delivering grief and bereavement training in-person to the communities of the Nipissing and East Parry Sound Districts, hosting Lunch and Learns to connect with community members, as well as having ongoing training for volunteers. This position would also host events for socially isolated seniors with interactive activities, information about our services and educational workshops. This position would also be key in expanding our volunteer base to remote Northern areas who have a lack of access to visiting hospice services and grief support.
Position Type: This is a temporary twelve (12) month, fifty-two (52) week contract position for 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, flex time, partly online and partly based at 2025 Main St W, North Bay, Ontario, P1B 8G5, with travel within our catchment area (Nipissing and East Parry Sound Districts). Contract begins April 25th, 2022 and ends April 21st, 2023. Full time (35 hours/week) @ $20.00/hour x 52 weeks = $36,400.00
Purpose: Working under the direction of the NNPCN Executive Director and the Hospice Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for restarting in-person NNPCN training services and expanding them to a hybrid format (in person and online trainees). The successful candidate will support staff in the oversight of recruitment, screening, training, admission, evaluation, and ongoing engagement of NNPCN volunteers in all programs.
Project Responsibilities:
Qualifications: Post-secondary education, solid computer, and Internet skills – emphasis on training/education: education, health sciences, social work, sociology, nursing (not an exhaustive list). 3-5 years’ experience in related field. Ability to problem solve. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team skills with an ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, placement students, support agencies, and the open public. A demonstrated ability to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure of time constraints. A proven ability to work independently, in team and under organizational chain of command. Responsible, committed, focused, highly professional, and ethical, results oriented, core personal interest in contributing to community wellbeing and a charitable cause. Strong verbal and written skills, including accuracy, proofreading, and ability to write clear communications materials for public distribution. Excellent word-processing, presentation, and spreadsheet skills (ideally Microsoft Office) and a good understanding of computer applications (Zoom, YouTube, Google Workspace, etc.). Oral and written communication skills in French. Mandatory: 3 References, updated immunization record for Ontario (to include full COVID-19 vaccination), Police Check for the Vulnerable Sector and valid current Ontario Driver’s License.
