EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Diploma in Early Childhood Education; Training or experience in Human Resources Management; Or combination of additional training/experience with New Brunswick Early Learning and Care Curriculum Framework/English and Orientation to Early Childhood Education (90 hours)
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years in the child care field; Supervisory Experience in the management of staff in the last 5 years; Experience and solid understanding of provincial standards guiding child care centers; and Experience with Non-Profit Organizations
SKILLS: Must be flexible, creative, enthusiastic, and highly energetic; Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal and written); Ability to facilitate among diverse groups Team work skills; Excellent organizational, record keeping, and financial administrative skills; Sensitivity and tact in dealing with people under stressful conditions; Program development, implementation and evaluation; Ability to work independently to operate programs and complete assignments; Experience living and/or working in a military community an asset; and Thorough understanding of early childhood and child development
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Childcare Program Manager’s responsibilities are to supervise and lead the staff team of a provincially licensed and designated Child Care Center. Supervise the operations as well as the implementation of a comprehensive high quality program for children of military families. The Childcare Program Manager will work closely with and provide support to the Childcare Director and will act as the Childcare Director in the case of their absence.
RESPONSIBILITIES – ADMINISTRATIVE: Supervise day-to-day operations of the full-time care, before and after-school program, casual care and deployment care including human resources related responsibilities; Support application for QUIF from province and report on expenditures; Ensure all childcare educators Payworks is accurate and up-to-date; Ensure all childcare educators complete monthly statistical information;
RESPONSIBILITIES – PROGRAMMING: Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive early childhood education and child care program; Support childcare educators in developing programming; Support military families access to Emergency Childcare; Provide support as a learning center for students as required; and Be supportive of the needs of the military community based on participant feedback and community needs assessment for the child care program.
RESPONSIBILITIES – SUPERVISORY: Be responsive to concerns/questions from childcare educators; Work with childcare educators to resolve interpersonal conflicts and promote teamwork; Involve volunteers with the programs when appropriate; Establish and promote positive rapport with families; Listen and respond when appropriate to parental and community input; and Ensure the Childcare Director is kept up-to-date on issues and trends involving the childcare center.
