Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and provide vehicle and heavy equipment troubleshooting and diagnostic repairs
- Repair damaged machinery and components
- Overhaul engines and reinstall into equipment and vehicles
- Monitor all vehicle systems for signs of malfunction and wear-and-tear
- Perform scheduled maintenance service such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
- Fabricate machine and welded components
- Remove damaged and malfunctioning parts for replacement
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
- Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to occupational health and safety regulation
- Perform in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Other mechanical repair work as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification (or in progress)
- Knowledge of Diesel/Turbo engines
- Well versed in MTO regulations
- 1st, 2nd or 3rd year Apprentice.
- Possess a valid drivers’ license
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
- Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
