Niagara College Canada Looking for Educational Technologist at Niagara, ON Full Time

Applications are invited for the position of Educational Technologist in the Centre for Academic Excellence (CAE), located at the Welland Campus. The starting salary is $36.19 /hr (Pay Band I – $36.19/hr to $41.94/hr) for a 35 hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Learning Design, the successful candidate will consult with and provide training to faculty and academic staff on the effective use of instructional technologies and digital learning objects to improve teaching and learning for face-to-face, blended, and online delivery formats. This includes the delivery of workshops, individual and group training sessions, and the development and organization of associated resources, templates, and communications. The Educational Technologist also evaluates learning technologies and makes recommendations regarding the pedagogical and strategic value and viability of specific eLearning tools and software for Niagara College.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Plan, develop, and deliver training, videos, modules, templates, and other resources for faculty and academic staff related to the use of the learning management system (LMS) and other enterprise-level educational technologies, as appropriate.
• Provide individual and group coaching to assist educators in enhancing and/or trouble-shooting course- and content-delivery through the LMS and other systems, as appropriate.
• Systematically review digital learning objects, activities, and online/blended courses from pedagogical and accessibility perspectives and offer recommendations, resources, and training to support their efficacy.
• Maintain knowledge of emerging trends in digital learning and use this knowledge to help identify gaps and challenges in educational technology at NC and advocate for appropriate solutions.
• Evaluate learning technologies and make recommendations regarding the pedagogical and strategic viability of specific eLearning tools at Niagara College.
• Collaborate with college partners to guide the effective integration of open educational resources and learning objects into curriculum.
• Create, review, and contribute to select college-wide resources and communications regarding educational technologies and projects and changes of academic consequence.
• Contribute to internal and external committee work to remain informed about local, provincial, and national educational technology initiatives and to provide input on NC digital learning strategy.

Qualifications:

• Three (3) year degree/diploma in Adult Education, Information Technology, Media, Computer Programming or related
• Three (3) years of experience working with educational technologies and professional learning within an academic setting, including:
  • Using Learning Management Systems and other enterprise-level systems to create and organize information and promote learning
  • Providing one-on-one and group training and consultation services
  • Knowledge of contemporary trends in educational technology and software
  • Awareness of the ways in which different devices, operating systems, and platforms may impact the functionality of educational technologies
  • Troubleshooting technical issues and communicating complex information to users
  • Reviewing digital learning tools, activities, and materials and making accessibility recommendations
  • Building eLearning materials that meet AODA and WCAG accessibility standards
• Demonstrated experience working in a team-based environment
• Proven problem-solving and data analysis skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills and a demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of requests
