Please note that effective February 12, 2023 mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations are no longer required as per the Niagara Region’s amended COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. As a result, you will not be required to submit verification of your vaccination status before starting employment with the Niagara Region. However, the Niagara Region continues to reserve the right to reintroduce vaccination requirements in the future if necessary to respond to changing public health advice andor government direction. The Niagara Region continues to strongly encourage everyone to remain up-to-date with vaccinations.
The Senior Accounting Clerk is part of the Accounting Services team and responsible for the timely preparation and maintenance of financial information of the Regional Municipality of Niagara (the “Niagara Region”), and its programs, departments, agencies, boards, commissions, and external partners (the “Entities”). This role is also responsible for overall customer management, billing and collection activities for all Niagara Region departments and shared services partners, and reporting receivable status to Committee and Council, and other functions.
Responsibilities of this position include the timely execution of general journal entries, preparation of financial schedules for various programs, and completion of balance sheet/income statement reconciliations/working papers. Other responsibilities could include any of the following: ensuring the integrity of sub-system to ERP system integrations, processing cost allocations, facilitating record storage, support trust account activities, maintaining a high level of customer service while managing sensitive customer situations with internal and external clients, identifying and implementing process improvements, and any general accounting work required.
In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.
