Supply Chain experts ensure that every year, almost a billion units of footwear, apparel and equipment arrive at the right place, at the right time. To ensure this complex job goes off without a hitch, Supply Chain teams work with a network of more than 50 distribution centers, thousands of accounts, and more than 100,000 retail stores worldwide – making the impossible happen every single day.
Overview
This is based out of Nike DC in Scarborough, ON.
Responsible for facilitating the most efficient movement of product flow into and through Nike Canada distribution centres. A Logistics Planner uses specialized skills to execute a variety of cross-functional tasks related to Logistics, Operations and Transportation. They act as a resource for various internal and external customers by providing key data related to product movement. They are part of a collaborative team with daily deliverables operating in a fast-paced, continuously evolving environment.
Core Accountabilities
Business Expertise and Leadership. Gather and analyze information to support fact-based decision making. Provide key information which is leveraged to determine daily staffing and resource needs (processing plan, volume, loading times, available work). Provide accurate and up-to-date product flow information to our internal partners in Marketplace Operations, Finance and DC Operations. Work with various carriers, consolidators, etc. to optimize product movement while minimizing cost.
Delivering Solutions. Responsible for daily planning of orders in accordance with established due dates, priorities and account restrictions. Provide excellent service at a reasonable cost by providing reliable information to carriers so that transportation needs are covered (reducing expedited freight & accessorial fees) and customer expectations are met (preventing non-compliance and late fees). Provide daily and periodical reports as required by the business.
Impact. Develop and foster relationships cross-functionally with Operations, MPO, Finance, Marketing & Sales in addition to key external customers and transportation providers. Recommend improvements to existing processes and solutions. Align with North America Logistics teams to integrate and align on objectives, adopting and sharing learnings, best practices and training progress.
Problem-Solving. Ensure the prompt payment of freight invoices through exception reporting, research, and cost centre allocation. Partner with groups in North America Transportation and Freight Audit & Payment to onboard new carriers into 3rd party payment systems and resolve issues with invoices not matching expected terms.
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Supply Chain or Finance functions
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word is required
Prior experience using SAP and/or Manhattan WMOS is an asset but not mandatory
Prior experience with invoicing and transportation is an asset but not mandatory
Proven ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work cross-functionally, multi-task, problem solve and meet deadlines is critical
Comfortable communicating with others and can articulate deliverables clearly
Shift flexibility may be required at times
