The Schulich School of Education (SSoE) in the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies at Nipissing University (North Bay, Ontario, Canada) invites applications from candidates for a tenure- track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing January 1, 2024.
The Schulich School of Education is one of six prestigious Schulich Schools that were established through the generous benefaction of Dr. Seymour Schulich within six Canadian universities (the others being Business, Engineering, Law, Medicine/Dentistry, and Music). Teacher Education in the North Bay area has enjoyed a rich history stretching back 114 years, beginning as the North Bay Normal School (1909), then becoming the North Bay Teachers’ College (1953), transitioning to a Faculty of Education within Nipissing University (1973), and finally taking on the title of the Schulich School of Education (2010). The SSoE is among the largest faculties of education in Canada with approximately 1000 Bachelor of Education teacher candidates enrolled in the 2-year program at any given time. The SSoE also encompasses the Concurrent Education program, Indigenous programs (ITEP/TILSL), graduate programs (M.Ed./Ph.D.), and in-service Additional Qualification programs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach primarily at the undergraduate level within the Bachelor of Education program and may also have opportunities for graduate level teaching within our Master of Education and Ph.D. (Educational Sustainability) programs. The candidate will also be expected to engage in service activities within the Schulich School of Education; the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies; and the broader university community.
The Successful Candidate Will
The annual salary will correspond with qualifications and experience and will follow the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) Collective Agreement. The appointment will be effective January 1, 2024, and is subject to final budgetary approval.
