Moutcha Bay Resort is currently hiring for the 2022 summer season! You will be working among a diverse natural playground of rugged coastal mountains, rainforest, and marine life. Drive west along one of the most scenic highways in Canada through the spectacular mountainous landscape of Strathcona Park and the village of Gold River towards Moutcha Bay. Only 2 hours by road from Campbell River on Vancouver Island is Moutcha Bay Resort, nestled on the sheltered waters of magnificent Nootka Sound.
Come live and work on the rugged, remote west coast of Vancouver Island and spend your summer getting paid to be where others vacation! With a flexible 5 days on, 2 days off schedule, staff can fully experience all that the west coast has to offer. Opportunities to fish, hike, swim, explore, cave, snorkel, kayak, SUP and make some lifelong friends along the way. Staff accommodation is provided.
This position is available for Moutcha Bay Resort. Contract length dependent on demands of business.

Summing it up.
The Chef over-sees all aspects of running a competent kitchen including orders, equipment, menus and kitchen staff. You will be a part of our dynamic Culinary Team at the Conuma Grill Restaurant, an a la carte restaurant which is open to the public at Moutcha Bay Resort. You are committed to high culinary standards, sanitation standards and professionalism and are the heart of the kitchen team, preparing & plating quality, consistent food for our guests.
What you’ll be doing.
Prepare menus with new or existing culinary creations ensuring variety, quality, and exceptional plated presentation.
Plan orders for equipment and food ingredients.
Schedule kitchen team members according to occupancy
Working on line and leading kitchen team by being hands on.
Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
Oversee the sanitation and cleanliness of kitchen, fridge, freezers, and dry storage.
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests.
Who you are.
You have notable experience as a chef and in kitchen management.
You like to stay up-to-date with culinary trends.
Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
Good understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
WHMIS and Food Safe Certified.
You have a Red Seal Certification or equivalent experience.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Physical ability to lift 30 lbs and work while walking/standing for prolonged periods.
All employees must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, or provide a valid exemption.
