INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT – HEALTH CARE AIDE

Our students come to us with the goal of improving the quality of life for themselves as well as for those around them. Are you looking for an opportunity to help them achieve that goal? Our learners are prepared to be a part of a health-care team in a variety of different settings, providing a high level of front-line care to clients in need of assistance. As an integral part of our division, you will facilitate student learning in the lab and out in the practical setting and provide feedback on their overall performance.

The Instructional Assistant in our Health Care Aide program uses standardized lab plans to prepare each lab for up to 10 students in lab and 8 students in clinical. Working on campus and in clinical settings, the Instructional Assistant may be required to work 2 Saturdays per month. Clinical shifts can be day and evening shifts.

This is a full-time term position until April 16, 2024 with the possibility of extension.

• Demonstrate skills and assist students in the practice of skills, providing feedback to students on their performance according to General Learning Outcomes (GLO) and Specific Learning Outcomes (SLO).
• Arrange for one-to-one or group remediation with lab skills.
• Demonstrate professional conduct and attitudes.
• Maintain a facilitative and supportive learning environment.
• Set up laboratory experiences.
• Maintain appropriate program and student records and reports of student progress in lab and clinical settings.
• Order, organize, and maintain lab equipment and supplies.
• Arrange for printing of lab and clinical documents.
• Develop knowledge and skills through participation in courses, workshops, professional meetings, interaction with colleagues, and through independent study of current literature.
• Work with course instructor, Program Chair, or Associate Chair to implement Learning Improvement Plans when student issues arise.
• Determine clinical groups for Supportive Living and Long-Term Care clinicals.
• Fit N95 masks.
• Provide clinical oversight following the Clinical Instruction Guide.
• Make initial contact with facility after receiving notification from Chair or Associate Chair prior to students’ first day.
• Arrange student orientation to clinical setting.
• Assign clients to students in clinical settings to meet expected program outcomes.
• Assess students based on the GLOs, SLOs, and Student Program Manual for clinical practicum.
• Set up and supervise exams and tests.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Current registration with CLPNA or CRNA with no conditions.
• Completion of Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate or Diploma.
• Interest in working in an education setting.
• Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 30 days.
• Up to date immunizations including COVID vaccines.

SALARY: $2,022-$2,627 biweekly ($52,573 – $68,302 annually) reflective of what you bring AKA your experience and education. This is a full-time 1-year term position until April 16, 2024 with possibility of extension and includes immediate access to our great benefit program.
