Job Description: MANAGER, DIGITAL EDUCATION AND FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC INNOVATION

Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Research & Academic Innovation, the Manager plays a key role in supporting the achievement of NorQuest 2030: We Are Who We Include, and is specifically accountable for providing leadership, vision, and strategic direction for a broad array of technology-enhanced teaching and learning supports and services, including the successful leadership and development of a Digital Education Plan, and an integrated and inclusive Faculty Education and Support Model.

Successfully develop, integrate, implement, and ongoing review of the college’s Digital Education Plan, which aligns with NorQuest’s Reimagine Higher Education vision, credential mix and student demographics while considering the Digital Strategy.

• Provide leadership for emerging trends in technology, effective classroom engagement techniques, authentic assessment approaches.
• Identify instructors’ technology-based teaching and classroom needs.
• Work with leaders throughout the organization to implement technology teaching standards, play and test technology solutions, lead Learning Management System recommendations and upgrades approaches, oversee faculty orientation, training, development, challenge status quo approaches to teaching and learning by supporting and contributing to the Reimagine Higher Education Academic Plan vision.
• Strategically lead all forms of Digital Education for credit programs, contracts, and micro-credentials with an emphasis on accessibility, user experience, sustainability and quality.
• Encourage and motivate colleagues to share and implement creative ideas and learn from failures.
• Ensure maximum accessibility of technology enhanced learning platforms and tools to engage and give agency to learners with different abilities and diverse backgrounds, including linguistic and visible minorities and Indigenous learners, and lifelong learners.
• Design an environment and coordinated supports to ensure academic teaching excellence across all faculties reflective of and leading a refresh of NorQuest’s Teaching Quality Standards.
• Develop an open and welcoming learning process for new faculty, including leadership of the Faculty Evaluation & Development process, philosophy, implementation, and support mechanisms.
• Ensure compliance with all data, security, and ethical policies and guidelines.
• Identify and assess technology-related risks, develops countermeasures and contingency plans.
• Identify and oversee professional learning that aligns with learner and Faculty needs (e.g. support for new instructors; inclusive design; sound assessment; accessibility; delivery modalities including online, in person, blended, HyFlex, and F2F).
• Support the creation and impactful integration to NorQuest initiatives like Reimagine Higher Education and our Skills of Distinction.

WHAT YOU BRING*

*
A Master’s degree in Education, instructional design, teaching and learning in higher education, or related is preferred. Extensive equivalent experience may be considered.

• 5+ Years of Leadership experience
• Six or more years of direct teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
• Six or more years of related educational technology implementation and support.
• Demonstrated understanding and willingness to trial and adopt innovative learning technology.
• Experience in designing rich and interactive learning experiences in a learning management system and with learning technologies. (Moodle preferred).
• Experience in developing Educational objects using Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality or Mixed Reality is an asset.
• Experience with gamification and e-sports is an asset.
• Experience in developing strategies and action plans.
• Experience with instructional design, and/or curriculum development an asset.
