Qualifications:

• A Bachelor of Education or related degree and minimum two years’ experience or equivalent combination of experience and education;
• Class 5 driver’s license.

Skills/Knowledge:

• Proficient in Brightspace and Blackboard Collaborate;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Excellent time management skills;
• Able to work in a team environment;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office;
• Ability to multitask and prioritize;
• Knowledge of teaching methods based on learning styles.

Successful candidate must provide College or University transcripts and a valid class 5 driver’s license to Human Resources prior to commencement.

Position Description
eLearning Specialist
Nature and Scope of Work
The eLearning Specialist is responsible for supporting students utilizing various educational technologies, and providing tutoring to students studying within the online learning environment. This support includes designing and facilitating student workshops, developing instructional materials to support students with navigating the online learning environment, literacy, and mathematical concepts. This individual will also provide Northern Lakes College students with individualized and small group tutoring.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Train students to navigate Brightspace and Collaborate Ultra learning environments.
• Proof-read and edit papers and assignments, and provide quality feedback.
• Facilitate weekly student workshops
• Assist students with subject-specific skills and study skills
• Prepare learning resources for students.
• Assist with library and database research; keep current with library research methods, writing formats and college policies
• Support students to develop and meet their academic goals.
• Work comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Facilitate tutorials, individual and group, on particular skills- e.g. research, essay writing, formatting and reference citing (APA, AAA, MLA, Chicago), using Brightspace and Collaborate Ultra
• Collaborate with instructors to determine student tutoring needs
• Liaise between students and instructors
• Build a mutually comfortable working relationship with students
• Act as a resource for students experiencing problems
• Demonstrate respect for individual differences
• Encourage peer support activities
• Maintain and record student usage records as needed.
