Salary
Classification 12, $28.41 – 29.29 per hour, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees are provided an additional $0.56 on regular earnings in lieu of benefits, and 6% vacation pay, for all regular hours worked. The period between Christmas and New Year’s Day is unpaid time off.
Description
The Campus Office Assistant provides administrative support to the Campus Administrator, Director of Ancillary Services, and campus departments, carrying out a variety of administrative support functions.
In this role, you will participate in a variety of meetings through methods such as drafting agendas, gathering background materials including reports and handouts, attending, and recording proceedings, preparing, and distributing minutes.
Organization is key for in this position as the Campus Office Assistant will be required to maintain and book College vehicles for the campus, issue maintenance work orders when required for the campus fleet and collect gas receipts to submit for reconciliation. There is responsibility for administering and maintaining the campus imprest accounts that include preparing cheque requisitions and processing the bank statement reconciliation for the account.
This position is backfilling for a regular incumbent and will be in place until their return. Weekly schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have their grade 12 diploma with completion of a post-secondary program in office administration, and a minimum of two years of administrative office experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must be customer service oriented with an emphasis on excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to work independently and as a team member. Candidates must be able to demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, have attention to detail and meet deadlines while working with frequent interruptions.
There is a requirement to have intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (word, excel and outlook). The selection process will include completion of a comprehensive clerical test. A current and valid driver’s license is required of this role, as travel is necessary within the community.
