Salary:
$43.80 – $49.70/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.
Description:
NLC’s University Arts & Sciences Department requires a sessional instructor to provide in class delivery of PSYC 101: Introduction to Psychology I on our Fort St John campus. This general survey course includes topics such as a brief history of psychology, elementary experimental design, the nervous system, stress, sensation and perception, conscious and unconscious mental processes, learning and memory.
The University Arts and Sciences programming at Northern Lights College offers a wide variety of courses for students interested in working toward certificate or diploma completion at Northern Lights College or receiving transfer credit at other post-secondary institutions.
The contract for course delivery is a total of 90 hours, comprised of 45 contact hours and 45 preparation hours over an 8-week period.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master’s Degree in Psychology,
Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills
Commitment to student motivation and success; and the
Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.
Preferred:
PhD in Psychology, or a closely related field
The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education.
Demonstrable success as an instructor in a post-secondary environment.
