Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Assistive Technology, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team the Certified Orthotist provides a diverse range of clinical interventions to a pediatric and adult population. Essential components of this position include a high degree of expertise in decision-making, creativity, interpersonal skills and professional development. The Certified Orthotist provides clinical leadership particularly in complex cases and has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competent, evidence informed care. The dynamic environment requires the Certified Orthotist to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with other health care professionals to solve challenging clinical issues. The Certified Orthotist supports the development of students and colleagues through acting as a preceptor and providing ongoing mentorship. The Certified Orthotist will attend clinics, rounds, conference and meetings as required and provide supervision and evaluation of students and/or technicians.
The Orthotist may be required to provide services throughout the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio within a seven day service.
Qualifications
Must hold title of Certified Orthotist from Orthotics Prosthetics Canada
1-3 years of professional experience, ideally in a hospital setting, preferred
Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work independently
Excellent communication, observation and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team setting
Demonstrated ability to critically analyze assessment data and identify treatment needs focusing on a patient-centered approach
Understanding of Privacy legislation and commitment to the protection of personal health information
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
Salary Information
$38.79 – $42.72/hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
Successful candidates may also be eligible for signing bonus and relocation assistance for a return of service commitment – Approximately one (1) year return of service for every $5,000 provided to a maximum of three (3) years.
