About This Opportunity
Porter’s Lake Medical Clinic is currently seeking a physician interested in locum opportunities in Musquodoboit Harbour, a short 40 minute drive from Halifax. In addition to family practice, this position also offers the opportunity to provide coverage for a 16-bed in-patient unit and the low-acuity emergency department at the Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital CEC as part of a rotation with several other physicians. The call schedule for the emergency department is currently 1:6
Opportunities to locum with the tri-facilities are also available, these facilities include Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital and Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital in Sheet Harbour.
The incoming physicians do not need to live in the Musquodoboit region.
The position is compensated through the CEC hourly rate of $161.22/h and offers competitive overhead.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners’
Act as a patient’s advocate
Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements

Qualifications
Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
