About The Opportunity

The Manager, Admitting, Registration and Switchboard Services, Information Management Information Technology (IM/IT) reports to the IM/IT Director – Health Information Services Registration, Scheduling and Switchboard and is responsible for the transformation of health information to achieve provincial standardization across NS Health. The Manager is responsible to establish strategic and program-level leadership of Health Information Management including admitting/registration and data integrity, patient booking and scheduling, patient locating, hospital switchboard, and integration of technological solutions. The Manager has responsibility for implementation of information management practices required to develop, evaluate, and monitor programs and services while contributing to the overall IM/IT strategy implementation to achieve the goals and objectives of Nova Scotia Health

The Manager, Admitting, Registration And Switchboard Services Will

• Lead the development of operational plans to meet goals and objectives and financial targets of the portfolio
• Maintaining provincial oversight while leading teams for health information management and systems transformation
• Assist clinical programs with information management requests for the purposes of patient data collection, audits and quality review for health outcomes across NS Health
• Ensure information management best practice in accordance with provincial/federal legislation in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act and Personal Health Information Management Act
• Lead staff across the province. Travelling as required to multiple locations to support and strengthen the team
• Apply information management governance to policy, process, systems and tools for internal and external stakeholders, programs, divisions and care teams, service teams and staff enabling the provision of the most comprehensive accurate patient data for decision making and reporting across health information applications
• Provide oversight to a consolidated team ensuring resources are in place to support efficient and accurate data quality of health information management for NS Health
• Understand current information and technology systems in place across the health system with the focus in level setting to ensure standards and access to system data is standardized and equitable

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Current registration with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CHIMA) and the Nova Scotia Health Information Management Association is required.
• Knowledge and skills in the areas of HIS tools, applications, and systems of support.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ progressive leadership experience with health information management in an organization of significant size and/or complexity; Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and seven (7) years progressive leadership.
• Un de r g ra dua t e d e g ree. Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and work experience, Bachelor’s degree related to health information management, or Diploma related to Health Information with 5-7 years of health information management experience.
• Experience implementing health information management strategies, policies and processes for a large, complex organization
• Knowledge of health care legislation including privacy legislation – Freedom of information & Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (FOIPOP, PIPEDA), Hospitals Act, Mental Health Act, Medical Staff By-Laws, Medical staff rules and regulations
• Experience in leading teams of staff with indirect accountabilities
• Certi f i e d H ea l t h E x e c u t i v e and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems ( CPHIMS) designation an asset.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or organizational change management certification an asset.
