Responsibilities
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Staffing Clerk organizes staffing requirements as determined by the Department and ensures the processing of payroll and clerical functions. Other duties may include:
Inputs and maintains the time reporting system and its many processes in relation to departmental staffing
Update employee rotations/schedules in a timely fashion to ensure accuracy in relation to smoothing
Checks bi-weekly time reports to confirm accuracy and makes required adjustments to reporting time in consultation with Department manager
Monitors staffing requirements on a daily basis and provides relief as required in consultation with Unit Managers
Calculates and maintains record of charge nurse pay, stand by, travel miles, and determines the number of hours to be paid for such. (Overtime authorized by the Unit Manager)
Initiates change forms
Applies collective agreements as they relate to payroll/staffing and pay stubs
Demonstrates resourcefulness in the use of hospital equipment and supplies as it relates to cost awareness
Aware of policies and procedures pertinent to his/her responsibilities
Practices safety awareness in all work habits and reports any possible safety hazards
Other related duties as designated by immediate supervisor
Qualifications
Graduate of one (1) year secretarial or business program or equivalent combination of education and experience
One (1) year experience in the clerical field
Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Excel
Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
Self-motivated independent thinker
Physical ability to perform duties of the position
Good work and attendance record; attendance records may be reviewed
Experience related to staffing, scheduling and booking an asset
Commitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Long assignment, Part-time (40%) position; 28 hours bi-weekly

Salary Information
$21.73 – $24.31 hourly
