Position:
Manager of Finance

Location: Bridgewater, NS

Reports to: Director of Finance

Employee Group: Non-Union

Job Status: Permanent – 7 hrs/day

Start Date: August 15, 2022

Salary: $68,300 to $74,600

Closing Date: July 19, 2022

Role: The Manager of Finance is responsible for all financial accounting and reporting for SSRCE. This includes supervision of accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking/treasury, internal auditing processes and trusts. The Manager is responsible for oversight of the above-mentioned financial processes for Tri-County Regional Centre for Education as well (shared services).

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Business Administration or Commerce, or a recognized equivalent.

Minimum of five years’ experience, having significant financial accounting and reporting responsibilities.

Experienced in preparation of budgets, forecasting and financial analysis.

Very proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Experience supervising finance staff would be considered an asset.

Experience using SAP and BI software would be considered an asset.

Completion of, or enrolment in a recognized accounting designation would be considered an asset.

Task Dimensions:
Supervises staff involved in financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking/treasury.

Monitors and ensures appropriate controls over financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking/treasury.

Prepares/oversees the organization, planning and preparation of the fiscal year end financial statements and supporting documents/files for the external auditors.

Prepares/oversees the annual financial reports required by the Province of Nova Scotia.

Oversees all other audits of SSRCE records.

Prepares monthly/interim financial reports for use by senior staff, budget managers and others as required.

Assists the Director of Finance and the Finance Officer in preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.

Regional contact for SAP software and BI software which includes granting access, updating business approvers within each department and reporting, troubleshoot and aiding in solutions for issues.

Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the accounting system, including general ledger, fund centers, internal orders, and hierarchy maintenance.

Primary contact for all banking issues.

Provides advice and support to the Director of Finance.

Other Duties:
Manages completion of Public Service Compensation Disclosure report within specified deadline.

Prepares monthly accruals and other journal entries required to complete month-end and year-end procedures.

Prepares various reports as required using Excel/Pivot Tables for all departments of the Region.

Reviews and approves quarterly WCB report, calculations and payment for sub-contractors.

Prepares quarterly Travel & Hospitality Report within specified deadline.

Reviews and approves cheque registers, EFT files and other online payments.

Maintains payment number sequence file and verifies payment sequences used for each payment file.

Ensures donations/trust funds records are maintained and administered appropriately.

Reviews and approves annual Charity Return returns are completed and filed by September 30 for each Region.

Liaises with government departments, agencies, staff in other Regional Centre for Educations and employees where required.

Periodically reviews and drafts updates to Region Finance Policies.

Participates and is an active member of special committees or teams as requested.

Cross trains with other finance staff as required.

Other duties as required.
