Finance Product Owner

What you’ll do as a Product Owner:

• Using your expertise, you will work with the Finance development team to provide direction on the functionality of the system that will meet our clients needs and requirements
• Act as subject matter expert to assist developers and key stakeholders
• Create, review, analyse business and technical requirements
• Document and model workflows processes, features, and manuals
• Evaluate the sustainability of recommended solutions
• Use established internal processes to develop successful working relationships with business and development teams to implement solutions during the lifecycle of projects including definition, planning, user testing and implementation phases
• Conduct and lead user acceptance testing
• Engage with others to obtain all the required information to ensure successful completion of the project
• Ensure quality is incorporated into all project and product deliverables, with the goal of decreasing defects and implementing releases with minimum disruptions to customers
• Communicate proactively and collaborate with project team members to provide regular updates
• Contribute to continuous process improvement by identifying issues and recommending solutions

What you’ll need to succeed:

• 2+ years experience in Accounting and/or Finance is required
• 5+ years experience as a Broker or Underwriter is considered an asset. Experience as a Product Owner considered an asset.
• Bachelor of Business Administration, Diploma or Degree is considered an asset

• Working knowledge of accounting & finance-specific technologies is an asset
• Ability to model/document requirements, use cases and processes
• Strong technical skills including systems, applications, data analysis and flow
• Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and accurately gauge timelines
• Effectively multi-task and understand multiple inter-dependent projects from business and technical perspective
• Demonstrate solid critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Proven communication (reading, writing, active listening, speaking, and facilitation) skills
• Proven ability to adapt to a variety of situations
• Understanding of Change Management concepts is an asset
• Knowledge of Scrum and Kanban Agile Methodologies is an asset
