This position reports to the Mill General Superintendent.
This position is located in Lanigan, Saskatchewan and is not available for remote work.
What you will do:
Responsible for safe, reliable, and efficient low-cost, high-quality mill production, loading, and tailings placement
Work closely with other departments on site to coordinate, prioritize, and execute product refinement, storage, and shipment processes as well as planned maintenance and repair activities
Provide training and direction to supervisors and other department employees in proper work procedures and enforce all work procedures
Monitor employee performance, ensure operational and safety policies and procedures are enforced, and address non-compliance
Initiate changes to operational procedures and conditions as needed
Perform needed compliance checks, key procedure audits, and area inspections
Investigate non-routine and recurring downtime issues to ensure that appropriate remedial actions are taken
Ensure that product meets quality thresholds in production and loading operations
Monitor controllable cost items, to establish optimum cost distribution
Contribute to the development of annual Capital and Major Repair and Maintenance budgets
Ensure compliance with all Corporate and Divisional goals related to performance metrics, safety systems, and environmental requirements
Contribute to developing our Culture of Care through demonstrating positive safety behavior and safety guidance
What you will bring:
A minimum of 6-8 years of progressively responsible experience in a related field, with a proven capacity to lead people for maximum results
A complete understanding of mill operations, processes, and equipment
A range of educational backgrounds will be considered
Excellent leadership skills to help bring accountability to your team by creating a supportive, collaborative, and motivating work environment
The ability to mentor, educate and correct performance where needed
Ability to engage supervisors and operators to facilitate optimum solutions to issues and opportunities
Experience working in a supervisory role is considered a strong asset
Demonstrated positive safety behavior and safety guidance; high level of commitment to creating a safe working environment
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills are essential
Excellent computer skills are necessary, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
