This position will report to the Sr. Supervisor, Process Control / SIS.
This position is located in Carseland, Alberta, Canada and is not available for remote work.
What you will do:
Maintain and configure Foxboro DCS in accordance with Industry Standards.
Provide continuous support to DCS logic, control functions, HMI pages and alarms setpoints keeping personnel and process safety in mind.
Develop and make recommendations for new control designs and/or modifications for areas to ensure maximum operating efficiency, return on investment, and meet safety standards.
Evaluate existing controls / safety functions and unit operations to improve operating efficiency and rate, product quality, on-stream factor, and economy.
Evaluate and execute process control changes on various sustaining Management of Change (MOCs).
Work closely with important stakeholders in improving controller performance to enhance plant reliability.
Promote and contribute to successful implementation of capital and sustaining projects by providing accurate, timely and thorough design inputs.
Provide construction and commissioning support of instruments and control systems for capital projects.
Participate in process control / control system activities during planned TAR and unplanned outages.
Generate and follow up on ideas focused on continuously improving plant efficiency through advance process control solutions.
Coordinate with Control System specialist on improving /developing network architecture drawings, helping develop KPIs for alarm & control system health monitoring
Become a champion process control resource dedicated to Ammonia or urea plant
What you will bring:
Chemical or Electrical or Computer Engineering Undergraduate degree and eligibility to register with APEGA OR Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma with an eligibility for registration with ASET.
Ability to perform all tasks keeping safety paramount.
Have preliminary knowledge of Process alarms including alarm range, setpoint and alarm prioritization.
Ability to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
Ability to communicate effectively with various departments and individuals (internal and external).
Mindset emphasizing the importance of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace.
Effective troubleshooting skills – analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving.
Knowledge of key process related documents like P&ID, instrument datasheet and various technical schematics.
Engineering, maintenance, project, or operations experience at an operating facility or heavy industrial site is considered an asset.
Experience with PLCs, DCSs, and/or VFDs or Smart starters would be considered an asset.
