We are actively looking for a deckhand who, under the supervision of the Manager – Floating Staff operations and the Captain, will handle cables of various sizes in order to dock and undock tugs, ships assisted by barges and various dredges. He will also carry out all maintenance operations on the ships and equipment.
The operations of the floating staff will be carried out either in the different harbour operation sites and/or in the maintenance unit depending on the operational needs. The floating staff will therefore have to travel to the different sites. The incumbent may also have to work in collaboration with different managers for various maintenance needs.

YOUR TALENTS WILL BE USED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES:
- Participate in ship manoeuvres;
- Undertake deckhand responsibilities in the various sectors (towing, dredging, maintenance);
- Maintain accommodations and decks;
- Position the gangway and ensure the safe transfer of people;
- Carry out cleaning, painting and other work required for the maintenance of installations and equipment;
- Assist the Engineer Officer in certain tasks;
- Participate in professional development training (e.g. SVMO);
- Keep health and safety training up to date;
- Provide support to various sectors (SMO, floating dry dock, shipyard, etc.);
- Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
Our Ideal Colleague Has
- Certificate of competency as a deckhand;
- Three (3) to five (5) years experience as a deckhand;
- Certificates of competency:
- Basic Safety STCW-BS
- Ability to operate lifeboats and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats
- Willingness to travel frequently to the different operation sites;
- Valid medical certificate issued by Transport Canada;
- Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (RRO-M);
- Basic Marine First Aid Certificate (asset);
- Valid driver’s licence (class 5);
- Autonomous;
- Languages: advanced level in French and intermediate level in English, oral and written.
