HR & Payroll Administrator
· Collecting and verifying timekeeping information for hourly employees
· Calculating pay according to hours worked and as per statutory requirements.
· Process semi monthly payroll and initiate direct deposits with Quickbooks software.
· Invoicing clients and receiving payments (accounts receivable)
· Tracking expenses
· Knowledge of Quickbooks.
· Bookkeeping skills
· Calculate tax with-holdings and submit payment to the CRA.
· Benefits Administration such as adding/removing employees, sending benefits cards, etc.
· Assist with sourcing of new employees and onboarding same when required.
· Completion of HR related functions such as but not limited to: job postings, vetting of applicants, creation of offer letters & agreements, termination letters, acting as a neutral HR person for staff for general queries, issues, etc.
· New hire orientations, exit interviews, employment verification letters, and other various HR tasks.
· Investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies.
· Issue separation slips, T4’s and annual T4 summary
· Prepare and submit monthly profit/loss reports to owner.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
· 2+ years full cycle payroll experience is required
· Related degree or diploma, and a payroll or HR designation (or working towards one or both) is considered a strong asset for this position.
· Previous experience in Quickbooks and SwyftOps not required but considered and asset.
· Knowledge of Alberta and British Columbia Employee Labour Laws and Taxes.
· Knowledge of Sole-Proprietor, limited liability company (LLC) and corporation legal rules and regulations.
· Computer literacy included effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail required.
· Ability to work independently, such as assuming projects and initiatives and seeing them through to completion, seeking direction as needed.
· High degree of confidentiality, discretion, and initiative.
· Commitment to confidentiality
· Analytical and creative thinking skills; ability to solve problems, make decisions, negotiate, and deal effectively with people in difficult situations.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
