As a Software Developer, Virtual Care Products your primary focus will be to design, develop, maintain and support state of the art cloud hosted SPA solutions as part of the Virtual Care Products, Digital Excellence in Health team.
Here is what you will be doing:
Develop and implement new technical solutions that meet client business requirements. This could include new or changed workflows, web services, web applications, etc.
Designing, develop and unit tests in accordance with established standards ensuring the speed and scalability of the designed and built solutions.
Experiment with and assess new technologies to create new innovative solutions that ensure equitable access to virtual health care in Ontario.
Refactor existing technical solutions to improve reliability, stability and code quality.
Interface with teams across Ontario Health including but not limited to other development teams, quality assurance and business analysts, project managers, user experience and product managers) to elicit information and available documentation and build a common understanding of the target state of the system.
Apply risk-based approach to design and development; communicating to team, considering risks options and make design decision tradeoffs.
Pinpoint strengths and weaknesses of various design alternatives and select or recommend appropriate solutions.
Ensure that solutions comply with and adhere to Ontario Health standards and protocols with respect to privacy and security of information.
Size, breaking down, and estimate development activities, in story points or hours.
Provide independent assessments of technical problems, issues and solutions.
Provide occasional after hour support for virtual care products requiring 24×7 availability.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
An undergraduate degree in computer science, recognized equivalent degree or 3 years of work experience
Strong experience with AngularJS and NodeJS and grunt and bower as build tools for the projects
Strong experience with HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript and JS ES6 includes
Strong experience with firebase framework
Strong experience with karma unit testing AngularJS applications
Strong experience with one of the IDEs – WebStorm or Visual Studio code
Experience with configuration and use of prettier and ESLint
Experience with git and PR workflows
Experience with AWS serverless framework is a bonus
Knowledge of React JS and React Native is an asset
Experience building distributed systems is an asset

Knowledge and Skills
Strong written and oral communication skills – must be able to communicate technical direction, discuss and incorporate stakeholder’s feedback, and communicate issues found and solutions clearly.
Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
Demonstrated knowledge of software testing techniques and knowledge of CI/CD workflows; experience with Atlassian Stack and AWS Cloudformation.
Experience developing client/server/web interactions.
Understanding of agile methodologies and concepts.
A team player and self-learner, capable of working independently on assigned tasks.
Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards is considered an asset
