Position: Project Manager Location : MaRS Centre, Toronto Department: Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) Reports To: Executive Lead Salary: Commensurate with level of experience Hours: 35 h ou rs/week Job Type: Hybrid Status: Full-time, Temporary ( 1-year contract)
The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking a Project Manager to join the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) (https://oicr.on.ca/programs/global-alliance-for-genomics-and-health/) program.
This position is temporary, full-time for one-year.
The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH), based in part at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR), is looking for a Program Manager to support its Data Security and Regulatory and Ethics Work Streams.
GA4GH is an international alliance formed in 2013 to accelerate the potential of research and medicine to advance human health. Bringing together hundreds of contributors working in healthcare, research, patient advocacy, life science, and information technology, the GA4GH community is working together to create policy frameworks and standards to enable the responsible, voluntary, and secure sharing of genomic and health-related data. Learn more at www.ga4gh.org .
GA4GH is supported by four international hosts: the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, the Wellcome Sanger Institute, EMBL-EBI, and the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR). Eight technical and policy framing teams (“GA4GH Work Streams”) drive the standards development work to meet the specific needs of real world clinical and genomics data sharing projects. GA4GH Work Streams collaborate with Driver Projects—genomic data initiatives that help guide our development efforts and implementations of our products.
The primary function of this role is to provide project management support for a portfolio of projects, including the Regulatory and Ethics Work Stream (REWS) led by Yann Joly (McGill University, Canada) and Dianne Nicol (University of Tasmania, Australia) and the Data Security Work Stream, led by David Bernick (Broad Institute, USA) and Lucila Ohno-Machado (University of California, San Diego, USA).
The Data Security Work Stream creates technology standards and best practices for protecting data and services consistent with the GA4GH policy framework, including the development, customisation, and adoption of standards for identity management, data security, privacy protection, and service assurance.
REWS focuses on the ethical, legal, and social implications of international data sharing. Building on a novel human rights framework, the REWS develops community-driven tools, standards, and policies that foster common practices across countries, sectors, and institutions.
