Opportunity

Canada Summer Jobs Animal Care Attendant (ACA): We are seeking an experienced ACA with a love for spending time enriching the lives of the animals within our care. ACAs understand that ensuring a clean, stimulating, and healthy environment is paramount to quality of life for our furry residents. ACAs develop great relationships with our human friends too! Supporting client service and administration for a seamless experience at every turn.

Status: Contract Location: Brockville ON

A Typical Day

· Performing care and enrichment for our animals including, feeding, exercising, playing and/or other engagement activities

· Ensuring a healthy environment through general housekeeping, disinfection protocols, laundry duties and kennel cleaning

· Supporting animal physical health by performing supervised vaccinations, seeking RVT advice and general bathing and grooming duties

· Maintaining client records, recording information, and notifying a supervisor of any potential health concerns

· Participates in the transfer of animals to vet clinic as required

· Immerse self in the culture and goals of the centre/organization by actively promoting the centre via social media channels and participation in a variety of fundraising initiatives.

Do You Have What it Takes?

· Excellent communication skills

· Team player

· Ability to lift 18 kg (40lbs) and pull 45 kg (100 lbs)

· Valid G drivers licence

· Open availability including weekdays, weekends and holidays

· High School Diploma (or equivalent) required

· Previous clerical training and an asset

· Customer service experience an asset

· Certificate or College Diploma in Animal Care or working towards, preferred

*To be eligible, youth must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and;
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

· *The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

· **International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.

Salary: $12.00-$16.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
