Job Summary
What is the opportunity?
- Optiva is a leading company in the cloud telco industry and telco products, covering the full lifecycle of telecom billing system experience, including that of real-time and offline charging systems, together with CDR mediation and Policy Control. The company has multiple subsidiaries that span the globe and is seeking a Controller who will be responsible for the global accounting and finance function
- We’re seeking an experienced accountant to oversee this team in the role of a Corporate Controller. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as an accountant, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, you will make it your mission to streamline our financial reporting processes. You will produce thorough financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.You will be responsible for the internal and external public reporting of the Consolidated Company and multiple subsidiaries of Optiva around the globe. Optiva currently has entities within the Americas, EMEA and Asia.
What will you do?
Role Description
(A) Responsible for global accounting functions, including:
- Managing the monthly end-to-end close process, from planning activities to preparing or posting of corporate journal entries, to completing fully approved balance sheet reconciliation
- Ensuring integrity in the consolidation and elimination process, including Intercompany reconciliations and developing or maintaining required reconciliation and reasonableness assessment on an as needed basis
- Managing the capital assets process and consolidated capital asset reporting
- Accountable to consistent compliance of corporate accounting principles and procedures in compliance with IFRS
- Develop and publish IFRS compliant external consolidated financial statements and assist in preparation of MD&A
(B) Serve as the primary liaison for all aspects of the Consolidated audit, including:
- Preparing or managing all required audit schedules for timely delivery during quarterly review and annual audit execution
- Managing and coordinating the local statutory audits and compliance for subsidiaries around the world
- Developing and maintaining financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures, including effectively partnering with other finance team members and non-accounting functions to drive process enhancements and improve financial controls
- Experience with and direct responsibility for Workday, our G/L system
- Efficiency in leading remote employees
What do you need to succeed?
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Accounting designation (CPA or CA) required.
- Preference of audit/accounting experience in one of the Big Four accounting firms
- Minimum 10 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role
- Prior experience in the software industry is required.
- Required knowledge of IFRS
- Experience working with Workday or similar ERP is preferred
- Experience with multinational accounting and audits
- Soft Skills – Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Impeccable analytical and organizational skills. Self-motivated and self-directed. Ability to work closely with a senior management team. People Management skills
- Ability to both grow in the role and grow with the company, demonstrating leadership capabilities and upward progression
