Education & Experience
· A diploma in Human Resources Management with 5 to 7 years in Senior Management experience or
· A degree in Business in Administration with a focus in Human Resources Management with 3 to 5 years in Senior Management experience
· Working towards or possess the designation of Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL)
· Thorough understanding of current privacy legislation as it relates to Human Resources.
· First Aid/CPR Certification
· Work Hazardous Materials Information Systems Certificate
· Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning System (Educational Data Base) is considered an asset
Required Knowledge & Skills
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in and be able to demonstrate the following skills:
ê spreadsheets, and word processing programs, as well as email at a highly proficient level
ê an excellent understanding of relevant government legislation and governing regulations as it relates to Human Resources
ê an understanding of the northern cultural and political environment
ê Proficient use of on-line meeting software ( Zoom, Team, Webex, etc)
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

· Proof of receipt of two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities to be performed include:
ê Assist with developing, maintaining and recommending human resource policies for the Institute.
ê Keep up to date with changes to employment legislation such as Canada Labour Code and Workplace Safety, Occupational Healthy and Safety and Human Rights.
ê Provide Lead Role for Health and Safety Committee
ê Keep up to date with changes to governments policy on COVID-19.
ê Assist with the development of strategic plans for recruitment and performance management.
ê Develop and edit job descriptions.
ê Maintain and monitor all leave of absences for all staff.
ê Recruit, interview, and assist with selecting well-qualified staff.
ê Determine and order equipment/resources needed for new employees.
ê Ensure that personnel files are securely stored and confidentiality is maintained.
ê Ensure new hires receive a health and safety orientation to the Institute and any necessary training.
ê Coordinate with the Directors to ensure performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
ê Assist with recommending professional development and training for staff.
ê Develop succession plan for all employees.
ê Administration of all human resource investigations, complaints and discipline matters.
ê Process WSIB documentation and claims.
ê Process all Short Term Disability Claims.
ê Develop return to work plans as part of WSIB, Short-Term Disability return to work requirements.
ê Management of Benefits, Employee Pension, and Public Salary disclosure.
ê Annual Reconciliation for WSIB and Annual Information Return for Pension.
ê Coordinate, plan and assist Finance Officer with processing of payroll when the Finance Officer will be absent.
ê Perform Compensation research & reviews.
Office administration, regulations, and technology
ê Evaluate the need for new technology to meet the organization’s human resource information system, controls, and reporting requirements.
ê Monitor all legislation relevant to the organization (Canada Labor Code, Workplace Safety Insurance Act, Occupational Health and Safety, Human Rights, etc.) to ensure compliance.
