The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 108 year old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of $48 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15 day annual summer Fair which averages 800,000 guests each year, Playland amusement park which welcomes 375,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, year-round events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. We are looking for hard-working and motivated individuals to join our PNE Box Office Team and work under the direction of the Ticketing Manager.
The PNE’s Ticket Leader Box Office offers premier ticketing services for concert promoters, bands, professional sports teams, arenas and other venues. Box Office staff are responsible for day to day operations of various events at the PNE such as: Concerts, Events, Tradeshows and any other events operated by the Ticket Leader Box Office. What will you do this year?
In your role as a Box Office Agent, your primary accountabilities will be to:
Respond to patron inquiries regarding any information related to ticketed events such as: building information, directions, event seating, ticketing, parking and general concerns during the sales process
Maintain a current working knowledge of all events, services, and procedures by reviewing event information sheets and any other communication regarding event updates
Describe venue layouts and seating locations to patrons when answering inquiries
Balancing and accounting for cash and charge/debit receipts for daily sales transactions
Entering new patron’s information into the database following policies and procedures established by the Center and updating existing patron information as necessary
Organizing and distributing “will call” tickets and conducting light administrative duties
Call customers to advise of event changes and/or cancellations as required
Perform other related duties as assigned
What else?
Must have successful completion of Grade 12
Must have experience with cash handling and utilizing POS machines; previous experience handling large quantities of money is considered an asset
Previous experience with booking seats using a manifested seating map is considered an asset
A minimum of one to two years’ work experience in customer service; prior knowledge or experience in box office operations, retail operations or call center operations is considered an asset
Must have advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
Previous experience with ticketing software considered an asset
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing requirements with ease
Ability to work professionally, courteously and tactfully with guests and staff internally
Must be able to work a variety of shifts on a part-time basis which includes weekdays, weekends, and evenings
Must be available a minimum of 4 shifts per week, three weekdays and one weekend. Shift hours can start as early as 7:45AM, and end as late as 11:00PM.
