· Following direction of and working in collaboration with other staff, ensure a high-quality and developmentally appropriate environment for children aged 12 months to 6 years.
· Participating in ongoing reflective practice both individually and as part of a team.
· Provide diligent supervision of the children in a manner that fosters the physical, intellectual, emotional and social wellbeing of each child.
· Support children in developmentally and socially appropriate risk taking, while ensuring a hazard-free environment.
· Modeling appropriate behaviour (and social interactions) using appropriate language and voice tone.
· Knowledge of and able to follow direction for emergency procedures: fire drills, lost child and release of child.
· Follow daily routines to take advantage of embedded learning opportunities. Use child’s/children’s interest to plan meaningful activities and scaffold experiences.
· Provide an environment that allows for a balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities.
· Follow the daily schedule that incorporates child-directed activity and care routines with minimal transition times.
· Give children opportunities to experience their own and other’s culture and value system.
