Position Summary
Reporting to the Systems Engineering Team Lead, the Systems Engineer (SE) will be responsible for system engineering on a per project or technical area basis. The SE will work with Operations, Service, Product Management, and the rest of the Engineering team to support the manufacture and service of existing released products. The SE will actively improve the quality of the existing products by investigating and resolving any product quality related issues with existing designs. The SE will work with the production team to continually enhance and streamline the production line activities and related production text fixtures & jigs. The SE will be the technical interface with suppliers for the support of existing components as well as the implementation of new and/or revised components.
What you’ll do
Document designs, develop work instructions, and transfer changes into production
Support supply chain in finding and validating alternative sources for production parts to improve sourcing base to ensure continuity of supply
Investigate and resolve production line issues and support service team with any field escalations
Drive root cause investigations and develop, test and implement design changes for internal and field related instrument issues
Ensure all proposed changes to existing products maintain or improve product compliance, performance and reliability
Design, test and introduce to production jigs and fixtures for streamlining and improving the production process for PNI’s commercial instruments
Develop and execute engineering best practices – FMEAs, PFMEA’s, Maintainability and Usability considerations
Hold or participate in design reviews – running of or active participant
Who you are
Engineering degree, preferably in Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics, or Mechatronics
0-3+ years experience in product development
Experience in biotechnology field is an asset
Experience in manufacturing environment an asset
Good overall knowledge of mechanical, electrical and software design
Good people skills
