The successful candidate will be an outgoing and community minded individual with a desire to learn new skills and apply community-based outreach principles and practices within Kaska communities. A strong understanding of Kaska culture and community will also be required.
As a Kaska Community Liaison you will contribute to Parsons socio-economic planning and implementation as it relates to Kaska communities and the Faro Mine Remediation Project by providing support, assistance and input into Parsons socio-economic program and activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with the development, organization and delivery of Kaska community outreach activities, events and education opportunities to create general FMRP awareness and understanding.
Assist with the development of Kaska language signage and other communication products.
Assist with the develop and delivery of cultural awareness and sensitivity training programs to guide the Indigenization of the FMRP.
Work with elders and the local school to deliver presentations and FMC tours to increase student awareness of the FMC Project and the existing opportunities and work available at the FMC.
Assist with the develop and lead the delivery of door-to-door direct engagement campaigns to understand and establish community skillsets and interests.
Post paper and digital employment and training opportunities online and in administration offices, community centres, schools, health centres, post offices, general store, and other locations.
Assist in the identification of potential Kaska citizens with the talent, skills, and motivation to obtain and advance in various roles and opportunities throughout the project and at Parsons.
Inform socio-economic initiatives with regards to the Kaska Dena way of life and other culturally relevant knowledge.
Engage with Kaska elders and community members to seek out suitable cultural awareness and sensitivity subjects to include in sensitivity training for employees, contractors and sub-contractors at the FMC.
Seek out opportunities to connect and partner with institutions such as Yukon College, local schools, and Kaska administration.
Promote and communicate employment opportunities for Kaska citizens on an ongoing basis.

Excellent communications skills.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of Kaska culture.
A working knowledge of the Kaska language both written and oral.
Strong positive relations with the community of Ross River and surrounding area.
Experience with community event planning.
Job requirements
Ability to occasionally lift items up to 40 lbs.
