We are seeking a Health, Safety, and Environment Student for our Canadian Buildings Division – Toronto District to work on some of the most exciting projects currently underway specifically in the Greater Toronto Area. We are looking for students that are available for a minimum of 4 months starting in May 2023.
As an HSE Student and depending on your assigned project, here’s how you will contribute to the team:
Has an opportunity to work with assisting the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations.
Manages documents (i.e., data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing etc.) while also reviewing paperwork (i.e., PSI, tailgate meetings, safe work procedure, trend analysis).
Gets the chance to develop training materials and assist with the orientation of new employees.
Monitors and maintains the environmental program, while also recognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirements.
Be able to analyze site-specific trends and incidents and reporting findings to district.
Gathers/reviews/distributes safety-related statistical information, and interprets, communicates, and reinforces project safety standards to workforce.
Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures.
Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems which meet compliance.
Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.
The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong willingness to learn.
