We invite applications for a Full-Time Human Resource and Compensation Advisor (35 hours per week) to work within our Central Office, located in Grande Prairie, Alberta supporting the Director of Human Resources as part of the Payroll/HR team.
The successful candidate must be familiar with Human Resources (HR) and Payroll practices and have the knowledge, ability and experience to successfully support the operations of the HR and Payroll department. The successful candidate must have strong problem-solving skills and an inquiring mindset to identify and build on existing processes to improve efficiency.
Other duties and responsibilities include:
Process and implement changes as required to align with audit recommendations, legislative changes and collective agreement updates
Review payroll, benefits and pension account reconciliations
Support payroll and HR teams in accurate application and administration of collective agreements, personnel policies and employment contracts
Use HR/Payroll software to compile data and design in-house reports for budgeting, costing and other analysis
Conduct internal audits and data comparisons to ensure data accuracy
Work collaboratively with software provider, payroll & HR teams to design and implement payroll and HR projects and approval and audit tools
Work with internal stakeholders and service providers to support and implement new initiatives/changes.
Prepare and/or support the preparation of annual reporting requirements for the WCB Annual Return, Canada Revenue Agency (T4s), and the LAPP Annual Return
Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Human Resources and Labour Relations
Qualifications and Skills:
A diploma or degree in a related educational program
Designation through the National Payroll Institute (NPI) or CPHR is preferred
Strong work ethic, be highly detailed oriented and organized
Proactive, energetic and reliable team player that can work well with minimal supervision to meet deadlines
Embraces change with a positive attitude and is approachable
A high level of confidentiality and integrity
Experience with Payroll/HRMS systems, preferably with AtrieveERP/Powerschool
In-depth working knowledge of payroll, pensions, benefits, legislation and collective agreements
Strong written and verbal communication skills, advanced Excel skills and experience with Microsoft Office/Google
Ability to use in-house report writer, excel or other tools to analyze and test data
Knowledge of human resource and accounting functional areas to understand the impact and interconnections with payroll

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $85,000 annually (1,820 hours per year).
