Pearson Canada Assessment is hiring for Bilingual Scorers . This is a 6-month contract (@35 hours per week): 2 positions available
The Bilingual Scorer is primarily responsible for scoring and entering data from tests that are currently in data collection. The Bilingual Scorer works with the Research Director and Coordinators on the team to complete the Scoring database in preparation for data analysis. Specifically, this position works with the Research team to ensure that all data are scored and entered in an accurate and timely manner.
Candidate’s Daily Responsibilities
Apply judgment to score subjective data. Specifically, score verbal responses to questions that involve reading fluency, writing fluency, spelling, receptive and expressive vocabulary, and other verbal reasoning subtests.
Score subtests that require objective data entry. (Entering a letter or number that is already marked on the Record Form)
Enter data from subtests into an online spreadsheet.
Review and check your own work for errors.
Do other research admin activities as required (e., payments).
Receive and respond to training in the aforementioned responsibilities.
Candidate’s Education background required:
Minimum Education Required: 2-3 years of post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
Education background: Preference to those candidates in one of the following fields of study: psychology, linguistics, speech and language studies, bachelor of ed, special education, or a related discipline.
Skills Required :
French/English bilingualism is required as two studies (one in French and one in English) will be collected at the same time and the candidate will score both French and English tests.
Critical thinking skills to apply basic scoring rules. (Example, should the answer be scored 1 or 2 points)
Sufficient computer skills to perform data entry (e.g., basic word processing, web browsing, Excel).
Achievement of a scoring accuracy rate of at least 90% after training and maintenance of that level throughout the scoring assignment.
Ability to monitor and correct any scoring errors with and without feedback.
Available to work up to 35 hours per week.
Accept and respond to supervision from Research Team.
Be able to recognize questionable or problematic protocols that require attention from supervisors (e.g., cases with missing or unusual data, numerous cases with questionable data from the same examiner).
Flexible and willing to perform other research duties as needed (e.g., checking in cases, payments, etc).
