Ensure the security of users as each task is performed;
Apply, contribute and collaborate in the process of risk management;
Greet the clients;
Perform the initial evaluation of the client (objective and subjective evaluation, case history);
Establish a treatment plan for each client according to the initial evaluation;
Learn about the client’s condition and past or future interventions if applicable;
Perform different therapeutic procedures with the client (electrotherapy, manual therapy, hydrotherapy, etc.);
Explain the different therapeutic procedures to the client;
During treatment, find out if the client is experiencing any pain, burning, etc.;
Properly position the different treatment devices and put them away after use;
Explain and teach the different exercises or other activities that the client should do at home;
Put corsets and support hose on clients according to the field of practice;
Take physical measurement for corsets, support hose and order them;
Implement and evaluate treatments for patients hospitalized on the different care units, at the CLSCs and in the homes of clients;
Record in the clients files the dates of appointments, the clients’ progress and the different therapeutic procedures implemented;
Consult clients’ previous files at the archives as well as laboratory results by computer;
Close client files by computer or in the paper file when the treatments are completed;
Enter statistics by computer: include the time necessary for each therapeutic procedure done with a client, for evaluations, etc.:
Establish a schedule according to the needs of clients and contact them directly as needed to set up appointments;
When necessary consult colleagues for case discussions;
Call the treating physician or other professionals for information and record these contacts in the client’s file;
Get involved as necessary in arranging for technical aids and equipment, in addition to participating in visits made by occupational therapists and physiotherapists;
Perform any other tasks relevant to his functions and/or requested by his immediate superior;
Respect all policies and procedures of IHC.
Qualifications
Master in physiotherapy
Member of the Quebec Order of Physiotherapists
Experience Required
Minimum of 2 years experience as a physiotherapist
