Our client, a leading global engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their Airports team which specializes in providing a full range of planning and engineering services for airport and heliport infrastructure projects to local, national, and international clients. Projects range from small assignments, such as runway extension studies and apron expansion, to airport master plans and runway and taxiway rehabilitation projects.

Responsibilities:
– Act as the civil design lead and/or project manager in the design, project management, and contract administration for airfield infrastructure projects for private, regional, and international airports. Specific tasks include geometric and structural design of new runways, taxiways, aprons, airside service roads, airside commercial developments, including site servicing, grading, earthworks, and stormwater management. Coordination with other disciplines as required.
– Develop and oversee the preparation of design specifications, cost estimates, and tender documents for airfield projects. Perform quality control and quality assurance reviews, and stamp and seal engineering documents.
– Provide engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for compliance with specifications; prepare records and progress reports outlining construction progress.
– Assist and supervise the development and preparation of figures, design drawings, specifications, calculations, life cycle cost analyses, cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, technical reports, design briefs, etc.
– Perform field inspections of construction as required. Although the position is primarily office-based, travel within Canada for varying durations is regularly expected during the summer months.
– Mentor junior staff.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
– Member of OIQ (or eligible for licensing) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
– Practical knowledge of computer programs and web applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project Schedule), AutoCAD, Civil3D, AviPlan, aircraft modeling software, FAARFIELD, PAVER.
– Proven ability to solve problems, including analyzing issues and possible solutions, planning corrective actions, including cost estimates and review of alternatives, and demonstrating creativity when new design is needed.
– Ability to work in a team and maintain excellent relationships with team members and clients.
– Ability to travel to project sites (sometimes remote) for design and resident construction services.
– Knowledge and experience with FAA, ICAO, and Transport Canada standards.
– Proficiency in English and French is required for this position, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.*
