What you’ll do
- Perform additional procedures for the majority of time; performs routine procedures in various sections of the laboratory as required, following established departmental procedures.
- Collect specimens from inpatients and outpatients as required.
- Perform maintenance on related equipment and reports equipment malfunctions to the Section Head.
- Perform all clerical and written tasks associated with additional and routine procedures, and compile statistics as required.
- Ensure that quality control standards are met and reports problems to the Section Head as they occur.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
- Assist with orientation of new staff.
What you bring
- Graduate of a recognized school of Medical Technology, plus a minimum of one years’ recent, related experience. Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Certified.
You also have the ability to:
- Work independently and as a team member.
- Facilitate positive change.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Organize workload assignments and set priorities.
- Develop and present educational material.
- Demonstrate awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
- Commit to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Demonstrate knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type: Temporary Part-Time (0.73 FTE; Unitl June 30, 2024)
Wage: $32.07 to $40.10 per hour
